The rich get hungrier

Amartya Sen believes the food (price) crisis is due to accelerating demand (+ temporary short of supply), compounded by misdirected government policy (on ethanol, e.g.). The solution he proposed: global cooperation and assistance.

It seems to me the same thing could be pretty much said for oil crisis, only the short of supply is not temporary.
