Banana mystery solved

In the US bananas is the cheapest fruit year around. It costs about 60 cents per pound even in the middle of Vermont winter. I always wonder why and here is the answer (I didn't know the reason at genetic level).

I am glad to know that Australians produce their own bananas, mostly in Queensland.
