Best time to include ecosystem services in the real economy?

Nature editorial piece. The point it tried to make was the financial crisis might trigger some positive changes such as ecosystem services being considered more seriously. But I cannot see any strong argument there.

Similarly people tried to raise the profile for global warming after the Victoria Bush fire. It is good to know that the whole scientific community is becoming much more media-savvy, but without convincing evidence I am afraid we cannot travel very far. As Climate Feedback mentioned, one can’t decide in hindsight whether a discrete event would or would not have happened had the probabilities not been altered beforehand.
