I don't want to know it now!

An interesting paper published in the journal of Judgment and Decision Making explores the reasons why people sometimes prefer not to get access to information.  Their insight is that the decision to postpone searching for information is not only influenced by the value and importance of the information per er but also by possible detrimental effects that negative knowledge may have, for example, people are less likely to open a mail from tax authority when it arrives just before they head to Las Vegas for a weekend :).
