The research on the link between biodiversity and ecosystem functioning has made some significant progress lately. A global synthesis (meta-analysis) published in Nature found the
effects of species loss on productivity and decomposition are of comparable magnitude to the effects
of many other global environmental changes. Using long-term data (13 years), an article in Science shows that the effects
of diversity on biomass productivity increased and became less saturating over time.
