Tom Friedman's latest piece on NYT, which sounds very familiar to an ecological economist.

"Often in the middle of something momentous, we can’t see its significance." I recall in Collapse Diamond wrote his students often wonder what people were thinking when they cut down the last tree. Are we close to that point???
